Chocolate hazelnut mousse

This chocolate hazelnut mousse is an easy Halloween dessert to prepare with kids.

For the cake (topping)

  • 100 g sugar
  • 50 g butter soft
  • 2 eggs yolks and whites separated
  • 40 g cocoa powder
  • 80 g all purpose flour
  • 6 g baking powder

For the hazelnut chocolate mousse

  • 500 g mascarpone or full fat cream cheese
  • 250 ml whipping cream
  • 100 g chocolate hazelnut spread
  • Halloween sugar decorations


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cream the butter with sugar, add egg yolks and sifted cocoa powder. Add the sifted flour with baking powder and fold in whipped egg whites.
  • Pour the batter into a 20 cm round tin, lined with parchment paper. Bake the cake for about 20 minutes, remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  • For the mousse, whip the mascarpone with whipping cream. Add the chocolate hazelnut spread and divide among the glasses.
  • Cover the mousse with the crumbled cake and allow to cool completely in the fridge. Before serving, decorate the chocolate hazelnut mousse with Halloween sugar decorations.
